Play More - Work Less

"Play is often talked about as if were a relief from serious learning.
But for children, play
is serious learning.
Play is really the work of childhood.”

-Mr. Rogers
Questions:
  • What is play?  What is the purpose of play?
  • What are your play attitudes?
  • What part does play play in your life?
  • How do you integrate play into the piano lesson?
  • How easy is it to give yourself permission to play?
  • Is there a difference between just playing and playing in the ‘work’ place?
  • Do you play enough in your everyday life?

When do we play, why do we play, with whom do we play and most importantly –What are the benefits of play?

When we play well, all areas of our lives go better.  Ignore play, and we start having problems. When someone doesn’t keep an element of play in their life, their cores will not be light. Play gives us the irony to deal with paradox, ambiguity, and fatalism.  Play is how we are made, how we develop and adjust to change.
“Play is the Beginning of Knowledge. Play is honest.
You can’t play unless you are yourself.”

-Cynthia Winton Henry
